How to take the test

Read each row from left to right. Compare the complete tiles and identify which feature changes consistently: the main shape, its color or fill, its direction, or its position inside the scene. Then choose the fourth tile that continues that exact rule. You can click an option or press the number keys 1–4. After 12 items you get accuracy and a full explanation of every answer.

If you do not answer before the time limit, the item counts as an omission but the run continues. Results stay on this device.

Scoring method

The main score is your overall accuracy and the median time on correct items, measured withperformance.now(). Human Arena also reports performance at each difficulty level and the highest difficulty reached. Higher accuracy is better; lower time is better.

Why results vary

Attention, fatigue, screen size, and whether the tab was backgrounded can all shift a result. Treat the number as an entertainment and general-information measurement, not a medical, diagnostic, neurological, or IQ assessment.

What this game challenges

Pattern Reasoning Test measures inductive reasoning: finding the rule that links a series of figures. It is a specific reasoning skill, not a measure of intelligence or overall ability.

Original rule families

Items are generated from original families — rotation, shape, fill, position, alternation, combination, and symmetry — so the content is transparent and not copied from proprietary assessments. None of the items are clinical or diagnostic.

Pattern reasoning FAQ

What does this test measure?

It measures pattern reasoning: spotting the rule that connects a series of figures and choosing the figure that completes it. Difficulty increases as the patterns get busier.

Are the items original?

Yes. Every item is generated from original rule families — rotation, shape, fill, position, alternation, combination, and symmetry — not copied from any proprietary assessment.

Do I get hints during the test?

No. During the scored test you only see whether an answer was right or wrong. Full explanations for every item appear after you finish.

What if I run out of time on an item?

Each item has a generous time limit. If you do not answer in time it counts as an omission but does not end the run.

Is this an IQ test?

No. This is an entertainment and general-information measurement of a specific reasoning skill. It is not an IQ estimate and should not be used to judge intelligence, health, or ability.

Our game adaptation

Twelve original generated questions use our own rule families and difficulty schedule. We reproduce no proprietary test items and provide no IQ conversion or calibrated ability estimate.

What we report

Correct answers out of 12, accuracy, response time and post-test explanations.
