How to take the test

Start with a one-digit number. After the number hides, the answer field receives focus so you can type immediately. A correct response moves to the next round with one extra digit. A wrong response ends the run and reveals the expected number.

Multi-digit numbers never begin with zero, and answers are compared as strings rather than parsed numbers. That keeps leading, missing, or swapped digits from being blurred by numeric conversion.

Scoring method

The score is the maximum successfully recalled digit length. A one-digit number appears for 1.75 seconds, with 0.35 seconds added for every extra digit. Higher scores are better.

Why results vary

Typing comfort, display size, browser focus behavior, distractions, and system load can change a run. Results are for entertainment and general information, not medical, diagnostic, neurological, or IQ claims.

Number memory FAQ

Can a multi-digit number start with zero?

No. One-digit numbers can be zero, but longer numbers start from one through nine so the digit length is clear.

How long is each number shown?

A one-digit number stays visible for 1.75 seconds. Each added digit adds 0.35 seconds to the display time.

What counts as correct?

The answer is compared as a string. Every digit must match exactly, including order and length.
