How to take the test

Start a level and study the highlighted squares during the brief reveal. When the marks hide, select the remembered locations. Correct selections stay marked, while a wrong square costs one of your three lives. A level completes when every target square has been found.

The board begins as a 3 by 3 grid with three targets. As you complete levels, the target count grows gradually and the grid expands every three levels, up to 7 by 7.

Scoring method

Your score is the number of completed levels. Targets are unique within each level and generated by shuffling the grid cells, then taking the needed count. Higher scores are better.

Why results vary

Screen size, browser zoom, contrast perception, touch accuracy, distractions, and system load can all shift a run. Results are for entertainment and general information, not medical, diagnostic, neurological, or IQ claims.

Visual memory FAQ

How many lives do I get?

Each run starts with three lives. A wrong square removes one life, and the run ends when all three are gone.

When does the grid get larger?

The game starts at 3 by 3. Every three completed levels, the grid side length grows by one until it reaches 7 by 7.

Are target squares repeated inside a level?

No. Each level creates unique target squares with a Fisher-Yates shuffle before the brief reveal.
